This course will provide a basic overview of Parkinson’s disease and current treatments for it. Attendees will learn the signs and symptoms of Parkinson’s disease, why these symptoms occur, how medications are used to manage symptoms, and what exercise can do to slow the progression of the disease. Information about local resources will also be provided.

Rebecca Martin is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Physical Therapy at Clarkson University and a Parkinson Disease Foundation Faculty Scholar. She conducts research on Parkinson’s and continues her clinical practice with those who have Parkinson’s disease at Canton Potsdam Hospital. She also holds a once monthly Parkinson’s disease and Function Movement Disorder Support Group.
