The deep sea is the largest ecosystem on the planet, yet we know little about it. This presentation will explore the adaptations of animals that have allowed them to thrive in the environment with no sunlight at temperatures of 1 to 2 degrees Centigrade.
Walter Conley has a Ph.D. in marine science from the University of South Florida. His research unit explored the trophodynamics (dynamics of nutrition or metabolism) and adaptation of animals in mesopelagic (200-1000 meters deep) and bathypelagic (1000-4000 meters deep) environments.
