Are you curious about the significance of the September equinox or the Harvest Moon? Want to find out how to use a planisphere* to identify the stars and constellations from your own back yard? Yes? Then this course is for you. Besides learning how to identify the autumn constellations, you will also find out about the mythology, history and science behind them.

Bruce McClure, a sundial aficionado and a certified celestial navigator, writes about stargazing and astronomy for the internationally syndicated radio program “Earth and Sky.”

NOTE: Presenter recommends you buy a planisphere* at one of the local bookstores and bring it to class.

Cap: 50.

* "A planisphere is a star chart analog computing instrument in the form of two adjustable disks that rotate on a common pivot. It can be adjusted to display the visible starts for any time and date. It is an instrument to assist in learning how to recognize stars and constellations." Wikipedia.
