Canada declared war on Nazi Germany on September 10, 1939, two years and three months before the United States declared war. The war would be a watershed for Canada and for the United States as well.

Art Johnson remembers World War II as a child. As an adult, he taught a course on World War II at SUNY Potsdam. In Fall 2013, SOAR bestowed the “Leon LeBeau SOARing Educator Award” on Art, based on the many fascinating history classes he taught for us over the years.
