This is a fun and interactive course about everyday civil cases and matters that happen in our local court system and community. Learn the difference between mediation and arbitration, why it pays to settle disputes through mediation, good conflict resolution skills, characteristics of good conflict resolution and negotiations. Most important, come away with a new toolkit of conflict management tools just in case you need to use them someday.
Diana Dufresne is a marriage and family counselor. She is the Associate Director of the Rural Law Center, and the Regional Director of Conflict Resolution Services. She provides Unified Court System-sponsored mediation services for Family Court, City Court, and many local town and village courts in several counties. Her areas of adjudicative activity run from “Lemon Law” cases to landlord/tenant problems. Diana is bilingual in French and English and serves also as Court Translator for St. Lawrence and Franklin County.
NOTE: This course is very interactive.
