This course reviews the “Great American Song Book,” including those songs from the Great Depression years, and explores the relationship of lyrics to the social conditions of the time. The work of lyricists from other eras will also be discussed.

Robert (Bob) Gibbs has taught, conducted, and played music at all levels – kindergarten through graduate school. He still enjoys playing with a small local band. He is a professor emeritus of the Crane School at SUNY Potsdam.
