Any geology textbook will tell you that New York State has spent much of its over 1-billion-year history under water. But how do we know this and what were those oceans like? In this course, you will learn, through lecture and hands-on activities, how to use the rock record to reconstruct ancient environments.

Lisa Amati is Associate Professor of Geology at SUNY Potsdam specializing in trilobite paleoecology. She studies sedimentary rocks and the fossils within them in order to interpret past habitats and infer organism interactions.
