Explore Laura’s childhood and that of her husband, Almanzo. The presenter will share pictures, resources and the opportunity to taste one of Almanzo’s favorite dishes, “Fried Apples ‘n Onions.” On Day 3, a field trip to the Farmer Boy house in Malone will be the culminating experience.

Laurie Swinwood is a retired elementary teacher. She was on the first Board of Directors of The Almanzo and Laura Ingalls Wilder Association, and helped the organization raise the funds to purchase and restore the Wilder homestead. Laurie has published two books for teachers of Wilder’s books, Farmer Boy and Little House in the Big Woods.

NOTES: 1) Please read Farmer Boy before coming to the first class; 2) Entrance fee at the Wilder farm: adults $7.50 and seniors $7.00.
