When draft horses were used in the 18th and 19th centuries, mainly in England and on the Continent, they were decorated with brass ornaments. Those signified the status and the trade of the owner. According to some, the designs of horse brasses were full of symbolism and superstitions. The presenter will show you a great many examples of horse brasses which you can examine and handle.
